Bedworth Sunday 25th June 2017 Birmingham FA Regional Walking Football League.

It was a bit of a grey day when Hartshill Strollers travelled to Bedworth for the Birmingham FA Regional Walking Football League. We entered 2 teams, one over 50’s and one over 60’s, each team played 2 games of 20 minutes straight.

Team A: Gary Davis, Pete Gibbons, Mark Mullet, Steve Edwards, Dave Shaw, Phil Bate, Paul Roche, Kevin Weston.

Team A Over 50s

Hartshill Strollers A v Coleshill Town B

This was an evenly matched game, with both teams giving their all to score a goal. Coleshill took the lead after a lucky goal deflected of two Hartshill defenders and slipped into the net. Hartshill soon equalised with a nifty goal from Gary Davis. Final score was 1-1

Hartshill Strollers A v Birmingham.

This was a fast paced, action packed game against the old rivals Birmingham. Birmingham were on the attack and Hartshill were forced to defend, defend, defend. Hartshill worked well together to defend their end and goalie, Pete Gibbons, did an astounding job at keeping the ball out of the net. Well done to Hartshill for keeping it to an acceptable 0-0 draw.

*Man of the Match Pete Gibbons for exceptional goal keeping skills.*

Team B: Dave Seddon, Steve Nicholls, Paul Whitehead, Barry Geyton, John Cooper, Richard Delahaye, Les Evans.

Hartshill B Over 60s

Hartshill B v Sutton’s Finest.

This was a steady game as both teams fought to score, Hartshill scored a cheeky, opportunist goal as John Cooper took a corner and crossed the ball across the goal mouth, Steve Nicholls saw his opportunity to sneak behind the defenders and volley the ball into the back of the net. Final score 1-0 to Hartshill Strollers.

Hartshill Strollers v Coleshill Town FC

Hartshill B were drawn against the strong side of Coleshill, Hartshill did well to defend their own and held off Coleshill’s attack, with all team members pulling together, the game ended with a satisfactory 0-0 draw.

An enjoyable morning of football was had and I am sure we are looking forward to the next round of the league games which will be held 0n 16th July.
