over 60's WFA latest game report.

This second round of the Over60s WFA was played today on a 3G pitch at Summerhill School in Kingswinford. K.O 11 am.

The referee Tony Skelton spoke to both teams prior to kick off to ensure both groups of players understood what he expected.

Both teams had played each other many times, so the game was cat and mouse with both team cancelling each other out in the first half. Hartshill were forced into a change after 5 minutes when one of their defenders pulled a thigh muscle and had to be replaced, taking no further part in the game.

After about 5 minutes of the second half, Hartshill moved the ball quickly through the midfield before Steve Nicholls moved onto a pass about 15 yards out and hit a low drive into the left hand corner of the Birmingham net.

Birmingham shuffled their pack and pushed another player upfront, but the Hartshill team stuck to their jobs and were able to run the clock down without any further efforts on their goal.

The game was played in the true spirit of walking football and refereed with fuss by Mr Tony Skelton. I would give him a mark of 7.
