Kidderminster Tournament Saturday 17/12/2016
A good turnout at the Kidderminster walking football tournament: Hartshill Strollers entered 2 evenly matched, strong teams. Both teams performed very well with the A team finishing in second place overall and the B team finishing joint third with Kidderminster Harriers first team.
Hartshill A Team won 3 games with an excellent penalty save by Derek Hughes in the first match. Andie Lissemore and Richard Delahaye being the main goal scorers. They drew 2 games with 0-0 results and were top of the leader board before they lost their final game 1-0 to their old rivals Birmingham (previously known as Beechcroft). This was quite a disappointing blow for the team.
Hartshill B Team won 3 games, drew 1 with a 0-0 result and lost 2 games, one of which was against the A team. Eddie Tromans and Dave Pickett being the main goal scorers.
Both Bob Haywood and Martin Broome volunteered their services to Kidderminster Harriers Second Team, as they were a man down, both showing what good sports they are and the good spirit of the game.
The schedule was quite tight and although the games were a straight 10 minutes each, it was quite gruelling for the players, without many breaks between each game.
The football was sadly overshadowed by our Ray Woodhall being taken seriously ill on the pitch and having to have an ambulance ride to Worcester hospital. I am sure you will join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.
