HARTSHILL Strollers narrowly won a friendly against against Redditch at Summerhill School on Sunday, October 9.

The visitors turned up with only six players so Paul Roche sportingly agreed to make up their numbers by going in goal.

It was an edgy game from beginning to end with the home team dominating play but being unable to turn pressure and possession into a hatful of goals.

A convincing victory looked on the cards when super-striker Adrian Chilton slotted home a terrific goal early on.

But – as the game wore on without the score being added to - there was always the danger that Redditch would fight back.

And so it came about in the second half when a hugely-deflected shot left Hartshill keeper Kevin Weston with no chance.

The equaliser caused jangling nerves which were only settled when a penalty was awarded late on, which Adrian Chilton coolly slotted home to make it 2-1.

Even then, the result could have been different when a fierce cross shot from Redditch in the dying seconds was brilliantly turned around the post by a flying Kevin Weston.

SQUAD: Kevin Weston, Adrian Chilton, Eddie Tromans, Andie Lissemore, Reg Walker, Rob Dunning, Bob Haywood and Mick Burdis (all used).
