The fourth and final game in the Winter Shield for the 60+ squad took place at Beechcroft on 15th April, with the series tied and goal diference identical after 3 matches, so winner takes the Shield.
The match started with Hartshill dominating possession and coming close on a couple of occasions, however after only 5 minutes it became clear that John Green was struggling with an injury, Bernard Bustin came on to replace him. The two sides saw out an evenly contested first half without further incident although a Birmingham player was Sin Binned for 2minutes just before half-time for 3 running infringements.
During the interval Hartshill checked with the referee and were aware that two Hartshill players were carrying 2 running infringements with them into the Second half.
The game re-started and Hartshill tried to make the most of the player advantage without success. After about 5 minutes Richard Delahaye was called for his 3rd running infringment and was Sin Binned for 2 minutes. The game ebbed and flowed until 10 minutes from the end when the ball broke to a Birmingham attacker, who managed to place his shot via a deflection past Dave Seddon in the Hartshill goal.
Hartshill continued to press and the Birmingham keeper kept out shots from John Cooper and Barry Geyton shot narrowly wide.
